Essential for the “WASH Alliance” in Maharashtra

The following challenges/reasons confirm the need for the “WASH Alliance” in Maharashtra.

  • Insufficient and poor WASH infrastructure in schools & other institutes, such as a limited number of toilet pans, lack of handwashing facilities, no toilet facilities for children & people with special needs, non-availability of safe drinking water, limited supply and storage capacity of water at schools, etc.
  • Unavailability/lack of cleaning staff at schools who are responsible for the cleanliness of the WASH infrastructures. As a result of this, the toilets are dirty & defunct and no regular cleaning happens.
  • Limitations on funds for the maintenance of the available WASH infrastructures.
  • Lack of awareness and knowledge on WASH issues among the children, parents, community and other stakeholders.
  • Limited collaboration with the district’s level implementation partners.

In order to gear up the WASH facilities, WASH Alliance is offering the technical support through the impact-oriented model. It is a scalable model and other partners must come forward and have to join hands with us as WASH Alliance member for good cause.
